This message is exactly what the Wailers convey in their magical live performance of the “Legend” album, released in 1984. This stunning compilation album is the best-selling reggae album of all time, with an estimated 25 million copies sold globally, spending 830 non-consecutive weeks on the US Billboard 200 chart.
With Mitchell Brunings’ soulful voice, energy, and charisma; Aston Barrett Jr.’s timeless rhythms and amazing leadership; Wendel “Junior Jazz” Ferraro’s skillful guitar sounds, Owen “Dreadie” Reid’s deep reggae bass; Andres “Ipez” Lopez’s unmissable keyboard tones; and Teena “Tamara” Barnes captivating vocals; The Wailers have achieved their goal – to continue the legacy that was Bob Marley.
They play “One Love”, we sing, and we cry. They play “No Woman, No Cry”, we dance, and we love. They tell us that everything is going to be alright, and we believe it. The 40th Anniversary of “Legend” is the perfect blend of nostalgia and contemporary reggae; it is a captivating, unforgettable celebration; it is powerfully evocative music; it transports listeners to places where they are moved; it is delivered with skill and power; it pulls the audience into a whirlwind of love that fills the venue; it transcends time, borders, beliefs, and differences; it brings us together; it is a continuation of the legacy of the immortal Bob Marley; it is one of the most wonderful shows of the season.
The Wailers will be joined by guest artist Third World. The Jamaican reggae fusion band broke into the music scene in 1974 with “Railroad Track” and has been touring with The Wailers since then. They received nine Grammy Award nominations.
The Skatalites, also hailing from Jamaica, shot to the top in 1965 with their ska cover of “The Guns of Navarone” and have since released 17 studio albums and 9 live albums, among many others.
The 5000-seat Marymoor Amphitheatre at Marymoor Park offers the best possible venue for a concert with the most revered reggae band of all time – on the lawn, under the stars.
The 40th anniversary of “Legend” is promised to be a concert true to its billing: legend.
